My name is Hazel McKendrick, and I’m a student and programmer based in Scotland. Currently I’m studying MSc Computer Science at the University of Edinburgh, having graduated from BSc (Hons) Computer Games Technology at the University of Abertay Dundee in summer 2010.
As you can probably tell from my chosen field of study, my key interest is software engineering and development. I am especially keen to enter the video games industry due in part to my love of games, but mostly because I see it as a challenging career path with numerous interesting problems to be considered; as such I’m also interested in other software development areas where this is possible.
In particular, I am interested in parallel programming and concurrency, distributed systems and networking, and computer graphics. I continue to investigate these topics both theoretically as part of my degree and practically both alone and as part of a team. You can see some of my programming work in my portfolio or see a more detailed overview of my experience in my résumé. I also keep a journal with some further information about what I am working on.
If you want to get in touch, feel free to email me or get in touch online or simple leave me a comment here.
You’re a neat person, Hazel.

You have very interesting projects (such as Mew) which I hope to try out in the next few weeks when work isn’t so demanding. Awesome design for your 20th birthday cake.
Thanks Gavin, I certainly find them interesting
If you try anything out, please let me know what you think. I’ve already handed in most of them as coursework but I’d love to work on refining them further.

Good luck with your final year!
Trying to relax – but there’s always more to work on.
Kieran found the problem with our installer, so we should have a working copy of the game online shortly.
Good luck
