This post was published 3 years 3 months 21 days ago and as such probably does not reflect my current opinions, knowledge or ability.Feeling the need for some caffiene to get me through my first lab of the day, I figured I’d get a drink from the union. Today however, they had something new available:

That’s right, Ubuntu cola. Although it isn’t related to the Linux distribution it is the first fair trade cola available in the Uk.
How does it taste? Really good actually. It’s very sweet, but smooth with virtually no aftertaste.
Has anyone else seen or tried it?
Hey, I saw an ad for this is when we had a team meeting in our staff restaurant this afternoon, but when I made a comment about Linux merchandising only one person got it.
Oh mother, you are too geeky -.-;
I’ve been buying the stugg nearly every day from the union it really tastes good
Yeah, I was really surprised that it’s actually decent: I was expecting a cheap supermarket cola kinda taste.
My girlfriend works in the uni shop and told me about how they sold “a drink with the same name as that OS you keep talking about”.
I too was expecting “a cheap supermarket cola kind taste”, but was pleasantly surprised.
I wonder whether its something that’s only recently come out as I had never heard of it before recently.
I tried it because it has ingredients from Malawi (I used to live there) and it’s good. It’s Fairtrade so there is no bitter after taste like you get from one of the big corporations cola’s.
I’m glad you all liked the cola – and it didn’t taste like the cheap supermarket kind!
It’s been in the UK for just over a year now, but it’s starting to take off particulalry in Universities. And Hazel, the lack of aftertaste is because it’s made of raw cane sugar rather than syrups, in case you’re interested!
Feel free to post any questions or comments on our new website!
Thanks Lucy
Our university union finally got some back in stock last week but the supply didn’t last for long. Hopefully it will be back again soon though.
